JOB SUMMARY: Providing temporary foster care to a pet in need. Fostering all types of animals: dogs (especially medium to large dogs), cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, guinea pigs, turtles, lizards, and fish etc. No out-of-pocket costs to fostering any WCC animals, WCC provides food, crates, bowls, bedding, collars/leashes, toys, and veterinary care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fostering a pet
- Providing confidential care and temporary housing for a pet in need up to 60 days. Do not disclose to others that you are a foster volunteer for Women’s Crisis Center.
- Transporting the animal to and from possible veterinarian appointments.
- Communicate with WCC if there are any problems you are facing with the placement, or if you plan on going out of town while fostering.
- Maintaining a calm and safe environment for the animal.
- Returning animals upon WCC request. QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, etc.):
- Must be at least 20 years old
- Pass background check
- Successful completion of 40-hour training series.
- Applies Women’s Crisis Center’s policies and procedures. Applies Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCADV) member service standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) standards for rape survivors.
