Who We Are
YMCA Safe Place is a social service branch of the YMCA of Greater Louisville. The YMCA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
What We Do
The YMCA Safe Place Y-NOW program is a 10-month mentoring program for youth ages 11-15 that currently have or previously had an incarcerated parent. Youth with an incarcearated parent are 7X's more likely to become incarcearated themselves. The goal of the Y-NOW program is to break the cycle of incarceration for program participants. This is achieved through one-to-one mentoring, curriculum-based group meetings, and case management services. Group meetings occur 1-2 times monthly to discuss topics related to incarceration, social-emotional processing, and life-skill building.
