Who We Are

Family Service Society has existed in Paducah, Kentucky, since 1927. As the city's second oldest nonprofit, we pride ourselves in listening to the needs of the community and responding accordingly. As a long term member of the Paducah community, we have distinguished ourselves as a resource for those in need, and additionally hold connections to newer not-for-profits in the area. For example, if a client needs help finding shelter, we can direct them to other Paducah nonprofits, place their information in our database, and provide emergency food assistance, personal hygiene items, clothing, etc. The agency was recently showcased in our local news, WPSD-TV, for our ongoing response to COVID-19. In uncertain times, Family Service Society has shown its resilience throughout 93 years of aid. As an agency, we reach hundreds of families each month through both our service and our volunteer programs.

What We Do

Family Service Society impacts the Paducah-McCracken County area by serving as a crisis center to members of our community. There are six key services offered by our agency, largely funded by members of our community: emergency food pantry assistance, utilities and bills assistance, eyeglasses assistance, prescription assistance, dental/denture assistance, and clothing assistance. With each service, both trained staff and volunteers help distribute resources to our clients. For example, clothing is placed on racks which can be setup in the Family Service Society parking lot, following social distancing protocols. Today, trained staff and volunteers allocate resources by utilizing telephone calls. Our agency shares most of our updates to the community on Facebook, where we showcase our volunteers' efforts.
