Volunteer: Pet Protection - Foster Pet Parent

JOB SUMMARY:   Providing temporary foster care to a pet in need. Fostering all types of animals: dogs (especially medium to large dogs), cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, guinea pigs, turtles, lizards, and fish etc. No out-of-pocket costs to fostering any WCC animals, WCC provides food, crates, bowls, bedding, collars/leashes, toys, and veterinary care.  

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Fostering a pet Providing confidential care and temporary housing for a pet in need up to 60 days. Do not disclose to others that you are a foster volunteer for Women’s Crisis Center. Transporting the animal to and from possible veterinarian appointments. Communicate with WCC if there are any problems you are facing with the placement, or if you plan on going out of town while fostering. Maintaining a calm and safe environment for the animal. Returning animals upon WCC request. QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, etc.): 

 

Must be at least 20 years old Pass background check Successful completion of 40-hour training series. Applies Women’s Crisis Center’s policies and procedures. Applies Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCADV) member service standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) standards for rape survivors. Completes fostering specific training from WCC staff.MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS WHICH OCCUR REGULARLY IN PERFORMING THE JOB:Carry, lift, pull, stoop, bendTransportation Exposure to potential workplace violence Taking care of animals environment, ex: cleaning cages, changing water, feeding, providing exercise

LOCATION:         St. Elizabeth Hospitals in NKY (Covington, Edgewood, Florence, Fort Thomas, Grant, and Owen)

REPORTS TO:       Volunteer Coordinator

SUPERVISES:         none

JOB SUMMARY:   Under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator, this volunteer responds to hospital emergency departments throughout the Northern Kentucky area for both domestic violence survivors and sexual assault survivors.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Hospital Advocacy Responds immediately to hotline call for a hospital runner. Provide care, compassion, and resources to victim-survivor. Abide by mandated report requirements required by law. Complete case review with hotline staff Complete timesheet. Complete post-advocacy checklist if required. Submit to Volunteer Coordinator within 24 hours. Volunteer must provide 24 hours of advocacy per month. Either 6 hour increments or 12 hour.  QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, etc.): Must be at least 20 years old Pass background check Successful completion of 40-hour training series. Applies Women’s Crisis Center’s policies and procedures. Applies Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCADV) member service standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) standards for rape survivors. One-year minimum commitment to serving the agency as hospital advocate.
